Manchester United’s top brass are increasingly suspicious of Joshua Zirkzee after his poor form fell far short of expectations.
Zirkzee joined Manchester United from Bologna for a fee of £36.5m with high expectations after signing ahead of Serie A giants AC Milan, who were favourites to sign him in the summer.
After scoring the opening goal and winning goal in the first game of the 2024-25 season when Manchester United won 1-0 at home to Fulham, the results have not been what the fans and everyone at the club expected.
Manchester Evening News reports that Manchester United executives are questioning Zirkzee’s skills and have started to accept early on that the Netherlands international could be the wrong buy for the club.
The 23-year-old forward has been criticise a lot, apart from his lack of finishing, he has made a lot of mistakes in passing, he has a lot of sloppy touches, he looks slow and he lacks motivation in playing, especially his body language which shows disappointment.
Manchester Evening News wrote that some senior figures at Old Trafford believe Zirkzee ‘is not good enough’ to play for the Red Devils.
As a result, Manchester United are expect to look for a ‘dependable goalscorer’ in the transfer market next year, which means they would need to either sell or loan out at least one between the Netherlands international and Rasmus Hojlund, who’s also struggle to find goalscoring consistency.
Therefore, the rumor that Manchester United may consider selling Zirkzee in the January transfer window may not be an exaggeration. With ยูฟ่าเบท Juventus interested in him on loan for the second half of the season.
